I love how comforting Wheatley is when he has to inform you that you did, in fact, just jump.

Portal 2 - Beta Wheatley Boss battle
omg…
OMG!
Even though I would have loved to see wheatley’s shock at that “yes” I have to admit that this game had the most satisfying ending to any game I have ever played. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
aaaAAAAAAAA AMAZING!! They did go with the more exciting ending but WOW.
Actually… Y’know, now that I think about it…
Sure the ending they went with was more exciting, but it also came way out of left field, or at least it felt that way to me. I honestly sat there for a good few minutes before figuring out you had to portal to the moon. It still feels kinda random and awkward.
But this? This ties in from the very beginning. This is Chell definitively kicking ass. I see how it lacks the action potential of the ending they chose, but… Wow. For fans who’ve become attached to Chell, and especially those who’ve read Wolpaw’s quote about her not speaking to spite the robots, this ending packs a punch of its own.
Yes.
Wow.
To be fair about the ending, though, there was a whole lot of moon-based foreshadowing that came before the end. Though it would have been great and really affirming for her character to have the resolution of Chell finally speaking, the act of shooting him into space was quite an act for her to have done in and of itself. And now Wheatley is suffering for what he did, probably for a very long time and with no hope of rescue.
If she hadn’t sent Wheatley off like that, I wonder what would’ve been done with him… that would have been awkward, wouldn’t it? Core transfer complete, Wheatley just pops off and rolls a few feet away, GLaDOS reassumes control of her facility, loooooong uncomfortable silence…
“…well. Uh. Hmmm.”
…
“…could you pick me up?”
oh wow.
yeah I mean it really couldn’t have worked on a few levels, but the dramatic impact is w o w
By far the greatest line in Portal 2
Hands down
No exception
Everyone just go home
